I'm so excited, we've announced our finalists for the 2007 TakeABreak Awards – to find the best holiday accommodation across Australia and reward them for their fantastic work. At TakeABreak we see so many great places to holiday, we decided to award the best of the best. We know that all of the holiday operators who list with us work extremely hard to provide great experiences for visitors, and this is our way of saying thank you.
The best part of these awards is that the results are determined by guests who have actually stayed at each property. TakeABreak will be evaluating each holiday property based on a range of criteria including comments, ratings and reviews by actual guests who've visited the accommodation. This means the awards will go to the properties where guests have the best experiences and get the best service.
State finalists were announced in our October Holiday Inspirations Newsletter, and I'll try and remember to list them here too. State winners will be announced in November and go into the running for the National Award which will be announced in December.

Self-contained/Self-catering (chalet, cottage, fibro weekender, holiday apartment, holiday house, holiday unit, self-contained apartment, serviced apartment, ski lodge)
Budget (back-packer, bunkhouse/dormitory, hostel, lodge)

On the Move (campervan, 4WD tour, accommodated tours, horse-riding tours, walking tours, charter boat, house boat, yacht)

If you'd like to help us decide, make sure that you make a guest comment on any property that you booked through TakeABreak. Just go to the listing page and click on 'Add comment'. You'll need to give a little information to confirm that you did book through TakeABreak - this is to ensure the results are not biased by people getting their friends to vote for them.
Information for operators
To be considered for a TakeABreak Award, all you have to do is be listed on TakeABreak and keep providing great visitor experiences. We will automatically evaluate your property against the categories appropriate for your listing.Winners will be able to display the award on their TakeABreak listing, their own website, other websites that they list on, and in any marketing material that they produce. Winners will also be provided with decals for their property so that guests can easily identify properties that are TakeABreak Award winners.

NSW Tourism Awards
Woohoo! Received an email saying we are finalists in the NSW Tourism awards - that's New South Wales, a state of Australia for all the internationals.
Last year (2006) we won the NSW Tourism Awards, which took us through to the Australian awards as finalists, but hey, you never know. It's a lot of hard work to put the submissions together and try and cram every reason you should win, along with answering 10 questions into 30 pages, but we did it.
The Tourism Awards are pretty prestigious so that's made our day at TakeABreak.
What we do at TakeABreak is to help people plan fantastic holidays around Australia. The best bit is, it's all online and if you don't want to, you don't have to speak to anyone at all, just search for places to stay in Australia. Or you can be more specific and search by state (NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, TAS, NT, WA) or even regions.
One of the best things about TakeABreak is that we link through to heaps of useful travel information on our sister site, Holiday Inspirations, so you can learn about places you want to travel too!
